If you happen to visit Japan towards the F130end of the year, you may find yourself lucky enough to stumble upon the holiday illuminations that turn Tokyo into a bright colorful wonderland of lights. There are whole theme parks that are taken over by the illuminations during the fall and winter months. Japan is quite notorious for taking it’s favorite aspect of traditionally western holidays. Illuminations are a perfect example of a cultural import of western holiday traditions.
From as early as October, you can see parts of Tokyo lit up by these gorgeous holiday lights. Some places have lights up until as late as February! That’s more than half the year!
A good place to admire the illuminations is at Tokyo Midtown in one of the major hubs of Tokyo, Roppongi. This beautiful shopping area is lit up from around late November until the end of December, and is not to be missed. Take walk around the ritzy Roppongi area and soak up the relaxing, yet romantic atmosphere!
