The magnificent Tokyo Tower is also known as the red Eiffel Tower. It is a 333m height tower and said to be the tallest man-made structure in Japan with a design based on the Eiffel Tower. It is also believed it was 13 meters taller than the Eiffel Tower. You will be amazed the iconic Tokyo Tower as it looks pretty against the clear blue sky and shines brightly during the middle of the night.
Located in the center of Tokyo metropolis, you can reach the tower in about a 15-20 minute walk from Hamamatsucho Station on the JR Yamanote Line or Daimon Station on the Asakusa or Oedo subway lines.
There were a couple of observatories at the tower where you could go up to enjoy the view. It costs 900 yen for the main observation deck only and 1600 yen for both observation decks. It is opened 9:00am to 23:00pm. It offers views of Mt. Fuji, Mt. Tsukuba, and of the Tokyo metropolis. The famed Rainbow Bridge and giant ferris wheel could be seen in the distance. It also has several amusement spots including an aquarium and restaurants. Live concerts on Wednesday and Thursday nights are offered in the observatory and night-time illuminations attract many visitors.
One travel tip when going here to Tokyo Tower is to make sure you read the observation guides to help you see the famous buildings and structures around the tower. Try to spot the other tower in town, Tokyo Sky Tree!
It's not just the city that has magnificent light, even the tower itself is very gorgeous at night. That's why it is recommended to go there in late afternoon and not the conventional first thing in the morning itinerary.
