Afuri considers its ramen to be distinct from other ramen. Aside from the light, refreshing, and delicate ramen they serve, what sets apart Afuri ramen making it so special? It is their signature ramen with yuzu - a small and fragrant yellow citrus fruit native to East Asia – which adds a touch of freshness and pairs perfectly with their broth and charcoal-grilled pork
It’s been thirteen years since they opened their first restaurant in Ebisu, Tokyo and the queues outside the restaurant continues to grow. And since then, there are now half a dozen other branches around the city and one in Yokohama Joinus.
A post-industrial and monochrome design décor are the hallmarks of Afuri and while there are no tables in this famous ramen restaurant, there are long counters where diners sit, watch chefs prepare ramen and are served with appetizing and delectable ramen noodles. It goes without saying that Yuzu ramen is highly recommended at Afuri. Served with a hot broth made with chicken, fish and konbu seaweed, the noodles are light and they are served with half an ajitama egg, slices of freshly grilled chāshū pork and a garnish of fragrant yuzu peel. This remains a much-loved dish in the menu and is as much a classic now as it was 13 years ago. So if you are an absolute fan of ramen, a visit to Afuri is a must without question.
