A small prefectural capital of Fukui Prefecture near Japan Sea coast, north of Nagoya, is increasingly becoming a popular tourist destination for both domestic and international travelers. Fukui is indeed becoming one of the fun destination during Spring season from the World War 2 bombing disaster and 1948 earthquake. Asuwa river is very famous HANAMI spot in Fukui and is one of "Japan's Top 100 Cherry Blossom Viewing Sites".
The banks of Asuwa River are known for their rows of cherry trees in hanami season with over 600 planted cherry blossom trees covering around 2.2 km stretching from Iidabashi to Akaribashi Bridge. It is worth walking along the Asuwa River that flows through the center of Fukui City, Fukui Prefecture. The trees are old, huge, and transforms this grove a tunnel of pink petals. The view of the cherry blossoms during the day is jaw dropping and it is also fantastic to view the illuminated trees at night. Even in still-cold weather, people enjoy strolling along the path appreciating the gorgeous cherry blossoms decorating the whole scene.
Every April, many street stalls open , and light up in the night usually from 1st April and around 20th April.
