This is the Furepe waterfalls, which is located in at the Shiretoko mountains, has a beautiful scenic view especially during the winter as the fallen snow or rain penetrates to the ground. Do you also know why this Furepe waterfalls is unique? Well, this is because there is no river at all for this waterfall. Most waterfalls have a river at the bottom of the waterfall, whereas for this Furepe waterfall, it has none at all!
Furthermore, the water from the waterfalls flows perpendicularly for about 100m from the cracks of the cliffs. It looks as though the cliff is sobbing, and the locals over there has given her a nickname “The Maiden’s Teardrios”.
One could also take a walk around the Furepe waterfalls to enjoy the scenic view, and observe at the diverse aspects of the nature over there as there is a walking guide online to guide you through.
You can join you nature trip all year round, but do be careful espcieally during the winter as it could get slippery.
The whole nature trail will take about 40 minutes and it is a 2km walk.
