I’m sure many of us would probably cringe at the idea of being without a data plan in a foreign country, we would feel like we are detached from the digital world until we return to the hotels with wifi available!
Fret not! Now there are many companies in Japan, who are providing prepaid SIM cards to make sure that not only you are connected to the digital world, checking out latest news and the updates from the internet, but also keeping you close to your family members even though you are away on a trip where you can just simple send a message or do a video call over the internet to send your regards to them!
Nowadays, such prepaid SIM cards has become really common as I remember when I first traveled to Japan, there was no such thing, and the first time when I first got myself a prepaid SIM card was back in 2010!
Here are a few recommendations of mine as I have tried and find it pretty good.
Personally, if you’re looking more budget, and you do not use a lot of data while Overseas, I would recommend to you bmobile. No doubt that it is the cheapest among the both that I have mentioned, but do note that it will become quite slow when you hit their maximum data that they could give you, and I’m sure that you will get frustrated like what I did. If you have more money to spend, and would like to get a decent speed, then I would recommend you e-Connect or a better plan at bmobile.
There are other companies such as NinjaWifi, SakuraMobile and etc offering prepaid SIM, but I have yet to try them all, but would definitely love to try them out while I travel to Japan!
