Lost in time in Edo period
Kyoto Toei Studio Park, or Toei Eigamura for Japanese, is a working TV and film set that doubles as an amusement park, where you can wander about an Edo period town film set in period costume, available for rent if you wish. There are many attractions, such as a maze and ghost house with a ninja theme, or a samurai sword fight show by professional actors.
Ninja Dog, anyone?
Tyler tried the ‘Ninja Dog’ in this video, which you can get at the ‘Ninja café’ for 500yen. The café is situated in front of the ‘Ninja Mystery House’ at the Attraction Area. A ‘Ninja Dog’ is basically a hotdog wrapped in a ninja scroll lookalike. In this ninja themed café, you’ll be served ‘Shuriken (ninja stars) Curry’(650yen) or ‘Senryobako (a chest for gold coins) popcorn’ (500yen) by ninja cosplay staff.
Escape from Ninja Mystery House
The houses where ninja lived had many trick devices in order to protect them from their enemies. For example, a secret passage or a revolving door, which looks like an ordinary wall but rotates to open when pushed. It usually had traps to lock up enemies in pitfalls. ‘Ninja Mystery House’ recreated those tricks and is situated at the Attraction Area, which is the other end from the entrance. Upon your entry to ‘Ninja Mystery House’, you’ll be explained about those tricks, and then you have to make your way through this ninja labyrinth yourself!
You need to pay an additional fee of 500yen (under 12 years 400yen) to enter. Children Under 5 have to be accompanied with someone over 16 years old. Children under 2 years are not allowed to enter.
