Festivals are always fun and exciting events to attend with plenty of attractions available for people of all ages. Especially those festivals that have been designed around religiously significant dates or occasions since people can then show their devotion to the religion while having a good time. Even the children seemed to be having a whole lot of fun, like that young, enthusiastic dancer following along with the moves of his elders. The many attractions at this Bon Odori festival were nice to see, such as the samurai and their handling of those match lock guns. The gun firing event was a spectacle in itself, showcasing the effort and time it takes to fire one of those things. It is even more awe inspiring when you realize that the samurai of old had to load and fire their guns in a similar manner but in war conditions with the enemy charging straight at them. It gives people a healthy respect for their ancestors, which was the entire point of the festival in the first place and as such fits the theme perfectly. The various stalls offering food and games seem like what you would expect to see at a fair or amusement park, but is pretty common for many festivals of this nature in Japan. All that dancing is bound to make the dancers hungry!
