If you find yourself in Fukuoka City looking for a great place to enjoy the magnificent sights of Japan's famous cherry blossoms, consider the wonderful walking trails and stunning 360-degree views offered by Maizuru Park. The park is situated around the ruins of Fukuoka Castle, which was nicknamed “Maizuru Castle,” or “the dancing crane castle.” Watching the video, it's easy to see the peaceful serenity and gorgeous natural scenery that the park is famous for.
Every year, residents of Fukuoka and visitors from all over flock to Maizuru Park for the annual hanami season to sit, eat, and drink under the gracefully falling sakura petals. The park is especially popular for its many winding paths, which keep the park from feeling overly crowded, and are lined all throughout with the beautiful pink blossoms. Make sure to take some time to climb up the steps to the former site of the castle, where you can enjoy incredible, unobstructed views of Fukuoka City just beyond the fields of pink and green below.
The park is open year-round, and can be reached in about 10 minutes from Ohori Koen Subway Station.
