Located just a few hours from downtown Tokyo via a convenient bus service packaged with the ticket price, Fuji Q is a full-size amusement park spread out at the base of the iconic Mt. Fuji, offering gorgeous views of the beautiful mountain for those who want to see it up close, but don't necessarily want to hike all the way to the top. As the video says, it's “everything you could want in a theme park,” filled with a number of record-breaking roller coasters, to water rides, shows, shops, and a terrifying haunted hospital attraction. The best views of Fuji-san, as the Japanese call it, are definitely had at the peak of the super tall roller coasters, giving you a picturesque glimpse of the landscape before plunging you back down to the ground at high speed.
Along with all the exciting, high-speed attractions, Fuji-Q hosts a number of great revolving exhibitions, with a permanent Evangelion attraction that allows you to see an giant mech up close, and pose with a number of characters from the anime series. With plenty to see and do, it's easy to see why Fuji-Q Highland Park is one of Japan's most famous and well-loved amusement parks (after Disney, of course).
Buses depart from Shinjuku, Tokyo, or Yokohama station, or you can take the train from Shinjuku to Otsuki and transfer to the Fujikyu Line. Open from 9 AM – 5 PM every day.
