For foreigners who have already visited big cities in Japan such as Tokyo, Kyoto and Osaka, you can experience a different Japan here in Minoh Park. Minoh Park is famous for it’s waterfall and autumn foliage. In 1986 it was nominated as one of the “Top 100 Forests” by the Japanese Forestry Agency, Green Civilization Society, and the Foundation for Earth Environment. Access is also very good, as it takes just 30 minutes by train from Osaka. With its fresh green leaves in the spring, cool summer breeze, autumn leaves, and in winter activities, Minoh Park is a very popular location all year round because of its seasonal sceneries. Minoh Park’s main attraction is its 2.8km promenade along the Minoh-river during the fall. Minoh falls is known for being one of the best 100 falls in Japan and is a well-known power spot. It will fascinate you with the roaring sound of it’s torrent and the wild mist of water splashes. If you are a shutter bug, be sure not to forget to take pictures from the red Takimi-bridge which offer the best angles for the falls. If you are lucky enough, you will come across wild Japanese monkeys. But it’s best not to approach and feed them. There is also the Minoh Park Insect Museum, which exhibits about 20 insects living in this park.
