Recently with the success of the mobile gaming application, "Pokemon Go" there has been a huge resurgence in the popularity of the pokemon brand. This newfound popularity has brought an increase in traffic to the "Pokemon Centers," stores selling Pokemon-themed merchandise of Japan. If you are looking for some great souvenirs for Pokemon loving friends back home, the Pokemon Center is a great place to go check out.
The stores are packed from wall to wall with various pokemon-themed goods. Inside the store, the nostalgic "Pokemon Center" theme song plays in the background. You can find goods of almost all the pokemon in this store, but of course the series' mascot, Pikachu, is featured the most prominently. There are all types of products, with the most notable being the stuffed animals. Pokemon Center's are also a great place to buy Pokemon-themed school supplies, such as pencils, notebooks, folders, and stationary. The Pokemon video games are also sold here, and there even occassional events held in Japan where you can obtain rare Pokemon for your game at the store. It is even possible to reserve the new games here as well. Also sold here, are goods relating to the Pokemon card game, that is still very popular in Japan.
