One of the best places to view sakura (or cherry blossoms) in the spring is at the Chidoriga-fuchi moat near the Imperial Palace in Tokyo. Believe it or not, this moat is actually a historical site, constructed during the beginning of the Edo Period. What makes the Chidoriga-fuchi so special is that it is surrounded by cherry blossom trees on both sides, creating a "tunnel" of cherry blossoms during the spring. When the petals fall, they float beautifully on the surface of the river. Chidoriga-fuchi moat is a popular date spot in Tokyo during the spring, because you can rent a two-person boat and row leisurely, enjoying the spring beauty around you.
