Japanese Animation “ONE PIECE” is popular not only in Japan but also in foreign countries too. Created by Eiichiro Oda, over three hundred forty million copies of the comic book has been sold so far. ONE PIECE holds the record for most comic books ever sold in Japan. ONE PIECE is a story about a pirate named “Luffy” who goes on a grand adventure. The animation has many fans, and has been made into a television anime and has several feature films as well.
“Zoro” one of the characters in the story is a swordsman who wants to be a master swordsman, famous throughout the world. Zoro fights enemies by using a “katana.” A “katana” is a traditional Japanese sword, that can be seen in many samurai movies. Zoro fights holding a katana in his each hand, and one more katana in his mouth. Each katana has its own name: “Wadoichimonji,” “Sandaikitetsu,” and “Yubashiri.”
Many replica katana swords are sold in Japan, and they are quickly becoming a popular souvenir for overseas tourists. “Gatbuster” located in Shinjuku, Tokyo is a store that sells various kinds of replica katana swords and movie goods. They sell replica katana swords modeled after Zoro’s and made from wood or plastic. These katana are made to be used for cosplay, so they don’t actually have the ability to cut things. Regardless, it’s better to not play with your replica sword in front of people because it is still dangerous. It is recommended to display the swords in your room as an ornament.
