The northern part of Osaka is Gero City which is known to be the place where it has the biggest number of waterfalls in Japan. There are more than 200 waterfalls on which each waterfalls has more than 5 meters. According to the history, most of these waterfalls are caused by the explosion of Ontakesan mountain. Every year, the waterfalls are changing its shapes and forms from the river flow.
All of the waterfall attractions in Gifu shows different vibe of beautiful natural scenery on each changing season. From fun activities to relaxing hot springs on its prefecture, Gifu introduce wide variety of spots to see that will allow you to enjoy and know more about Japan's nature heart.
Yoro Falls is a great spot to get outdoors. It is highly recommended to visit this waterfall during spring and fall seasons. Viewing the Falls in fall colors is what this area usually popular. It has been awarded as one of the Top 100 Waterfalls and one of the 100 Best Spring Water Sites in Japan.
The Yoro Falls is also famous for a legend which tells the story of a devoted son who get some water from the waterfall to give his ailing father, only to find out that it tastes like sake! The water from the falls is famously high quality, and is said to have rejuvenating powers. The Empress Gensho, who visited this area, renamed the waterfall to "Yoro" which means "Rei Springs"
The waterfall is located in Yoro Park, which boasts 3,000 cherry trees that bloom brilliantly in springtime and also has many maple trees that turns the entire park into beautiful combinations of yellow, orange, and red.
At the base of the walkway to Yoro Falls, you will find a wooden ladle which is set out for visitors to drink the water from the spring. Most of the people living near the area brought some jugs to fill it with water and take it home.
Yoro Park extends from the Falls to a road that runs along the bottom of the mountain. It can be reached by taking the JR Tokaido Line from Nagoya Stations to Ogaki Station. From Ogaki station, you must transfer to a private rail line to Yoro Station. From the station, there will be 20-minute walk to reach the Yoro park.
How to go there?
You can visit these waterfalls by joining the waterfalls tour provided by any Osaka Tour guides. You need to hike in able to see the beauty of these waterfalls so be 100% prepared when you are planning this adventure.
