Published on 12.25.2015 Being super interested in Japanese history, my brother and I visited Osaka Castle. Built by one of the three unifiers of Japan, Hideyoshi Toyotomi in 1583, Osaka Castle was modeled after Oda Nobunaga’s Azuchi Castle. Hideyoshi wanted it to be better in every way, but apparently it wasn’t good enough to keep Tokugawa’s forces out and it was destroyed. It was rebuilt and struck by lightning, rebuilt again, bombed and finally completely rebuilt to its present glory in 1997. While not an incredibly old building, it still holds a lot of the artifacts from those times and I thought was just all around badass looking.
